Other Giving Options

In-Kind Donations

It takes a lot to keep the CHMK locations running and in good shape. Contributions of time, as well as gently used items, are always appreciated. We ask that all In-Kind Donors fill out a Donation Form so that we may report the annual value of our in-kind donations to the IRS, and provide you with adequate acknowledgment for your tax purposes. Thank you!

Campership Program

The Camp Ho Mita Koda Foundation believes that every child who desires a place at camp should be able to attend – regardless of a family’s financial situation. With the help of generous donors, we are thrilled to be able to provide a limited number of need-based scholarships each summer.

Memorial and Honor Giving

A donation to Camp Ho Mita Koda is a thoughtful way to honor someone whose life has been impacted by Type 1 Diabetes. Your gift can recognize milestones in a individual’s life or express the sense of loss when someone loses their battle with this disease. Once your gift is received, the CHMK will send a card to the honoree or family acknowledging your gift.

Sponsor a Program

We have several opportunities for sponsors at CHMK across our summer camp, education programs and fundraising events. Our sponsors help insure quality programming for all of the campers, students, schools and teachers that we impact.

Stock Donation

Gifts of stock may offer tax advantages and are a great way to directly impact the lives of our campers. The fair market value of your stock is tax-deductible to you, upon transfer, in the year it is donated – and we will be able to use the full amount of the donation to send children with T1D to camp. To donate stock, please consult your tax advisor. For more information or to make a gift of stock, please call us at 440-739-4095 to speak to the Executive Director.

Sponsor a Fundraising Event

Here’s a great idea! You or your company can be a sponsor for one of Camp Ho Mita Koda’s signature events. Your support will help us raise funds for our transformational camp programs while providing benefits to you. (Everyone loves a company that celebrates the fun of camp.) Your sponsorship will result in both happy campers and happy guests.

Planned Giving

Has CHMK made a lasting impact in your life or the life of someone you love? You can leave your own enduring imprint at Camp Ho Mita Koda by helping to ensure our future with a planned gift. No matter what kind of bequest you are considering, there are so many ways to shape your legacy.

A bequest is one way to leave a legacy gift to Camp Ho Mita Koda. A bequest is simply a gift you make through your will or trust which indicates your desire to leave something of value toward Camp Ho Mita Koda future work. A charitable bequest can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the value of your total estate, a particular asset, a gift of stock or life insurance or even real estate.

A planned gift may also be made through your IRA, a qualified retirement plan, life insurance, or a trust and your gift may be a percentage of your estate or a stated dollar amount. Some planned gifts can even provide an income stream to you or the person you designate, and may generate a current income tax deduction for you, the donor. In many cases, making a charitable planned gift can help your loved ones offset estate taxes.

Gifts of all shapes and sizes are welcome. The spirit behind every gift is the same. For more information about planned giving opportunities at Camp Ho Mita Koda please contact Elizabeth Johnson at 440-739-4095 or email.

About Your Donations, Where & How They are Used

When you give to Camp Ho Mita Koda, your donated funds are used to run the year-round programs that support our mission of helping children living with Type 1 Diabetes grow in mind, body, and spirit through an outdoor camping experience that strengthens their confidence and creates a community of peers. The bulk of the money we receive goes directly to these initiatives.

In addition to our initiatives, a portion of gifts may be used to serve day-to-day needs, such as making specific product purchases to fill inventory gaps in camp operations. This thoughtful and effective use of your funds is a major reason why CHMK is recognized as a top charity and practices open book management. It’s a tribute to the financial efficiency, accountability, and transparency that Camp Ho Mita Koda brings to everything we do. Our first and foremost goal is to make sure that donations are used to make an immediate and real difference in our community.

Camperships

In 2023, 48% of our campers were able to attend a CHMK experience because of the generosity of our financial assistance program, fully supported by donations from the community. This means that over 100 campers had the opportunity of a life-changing experience because of the love shown. The financial assistance provided each year is $70,000+.

Camp Operations

Operating a facility that is over 95 years old comes with its own set of unique issues. We strive to provide world class facilities and are working our way there. Donations that support our maintenance team go directly to upgrading cabins, replacing bathroom fixtures, winterizing buildings, replacing roofs, and so much more!

Program Supplies

Each season we need to replace and/or upgrade equipment that has collected from over the years. This includes keeping our climbing equipment (harnesses, helmets, ropes, etc) in proper working order, rescue tubes for lifeguards, lifejackets, boats, and so much more!

Medical Expenses

Each season we utilize over $200,000 in medical supplies to support our camp operations. This includes glucose tabs, syringes, sharps containers, insulin, alcohol swabs, lancets, meters, strips, and so much more.

Get in Touch. Get Involved.

Camp Ho Mita Koda is only successful because of the hard work and dedication of our families, campers, staff, alumni, and community. We would love to have you as a part of the team and have many opportunitites for giving.
