Camp Staff

With more than 1 staff person for every 5 campers, each child receives lots of personal attention. Many of the staff also have diabetes so they are positive role models for the children, as well as friends, caregivers, and coaches.

Meet Our 2007 Camp Staff!

Rich
Camp Director

Rich has been involved with Camp Ho Mita Koda since 1969. He has lived with type 1 diabetes for fifty years and was recently awarded a 50-year bronze medal by Joslin Diabetes Center of Boston.

Rich has never permitted his diabetes to hold him back. He has taught school in Alaska, traveled around the world, bicycled cross country, and recently hiked from Camp Ho Mita Koda to his home in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania – 370 miles – to raise awareness of diabetes and to raise funds for the camp. When he is not directing Camp Ho Mita Koda, Rich guides school groups - interacting with some 4,000 children a year - at his nature center in Pennsylvania.
