The last week of session four was filled with fun activities. The campers got to sign up for new, daily activities, they played capture the flag, and had a very entertaining talent show. The biggest event this week though would had to have been the Color War. All of the campers were split into two groups for an all day competition on Saturday.
The two teams of Color War were the Blue Dragons, led by Olivia Serrat and Justin Saunders, and the White Gnomes, led by David Randall and Rachael Messner. The teams competed in a tug of war, pool relays, pin dodgeball and a sing competition. Points were tallied after each event and the scores were extremely close until the very last challenge. The sing competition was the deal breaker, and while both teams did a great job, the Blue Dragons triumphed. At the closing ceremony, team leaders gave special recognition to one player from each team that showed leadership and effort. Joseph Flannery was acknowledged by the White Gnomes for being an exceptional team player and Tre Hargrove was recognized by the Blue Dragons for working so diligently on the team song. Congratulations to both teams!
Tuesday night was also an exciting evening. The campers dined with the Steering Committee, and after dinner the Blue Dragons performed their winning song. The committee was also privileged to watch the campers who were a part of the step dance classes perform the routine that they had been working on all session. The Ronald McDonald House Charities also presented a check to Camp Ho Mita Koda that night. After that, it was all about the talent show!
The talent show was a fun opportunity for campers to show off their skills, whatever it may be. There was a guitar performance, an Irish dancer, skits from counselors, and much more. Overall, the entire night was a huge success.
The final night of session four ended with a dance and vespers, where we said goodbye to those campers who will not be able to return to camp. Unfortunately, they are past the age limit to be a camper, but maybe we will see some of them again as Counselors in Training. It was a great 12 days and now we have to say goodbye; but hopefully, we will see you again! Enjoy the rest of your summer and good luck on any of your future endeavors!
