Session three may have been short, but those three days were packed full of activities. The weather was anything but beautiful, but luckily the random rainstorms did not cancel any of the fun. The highlights of the session were the scavenger hunt, the pool party, the relay races, and the carnival.
The pool party was fun and laidback, with the Beach Boys sounds of summer playing in the background. The party consisted of a hula hoop contest, limbo, and kickboard relays. Geena Wiedlund placed first in the hula hoop contest, McKenzi Buttery placed second, and Houston Traver placed third. Other finalists included Sarah Woodford, Chloe Krulak, and Alexa Stapleton. Hannah Sidoti went as low as she could go and won first place in limbo, followed by Sarah Woodford in second. And in Saturday night’s scavenger hunt, the campers in Papa’s Place and Betty John triumphed.
Sunday night’s carnival was a competition between all of the cabins in the pursuit to determine which cabin had the best carnival activity. Each camper received tickets to go to whichever activity they liked, and the activity with the most tickets in the end would be the winner. Katie’s Cabin had fingernail painting; Papa’s Place had campers fishing out of canoes; Best Friends had face painting; Rainbow Connection had a shooting gallery; Michael’s had a variety of stations: hair braiding, massages, and magic tricks; Christopher Robin had the ultimate pillow fighting championship; Henry John had a rock on a spoon relay, and Betty John campers won the night with a water balloon toss that soon turned into a water balloon fight.
The red, white, and blue indoor relay races had campers and counselors competing in a three-legged race, the Sir Walter Raleigh race, and a balloon popping race, just to name a few. It was a close race overall, but the White team, led by Katie and Jacob, came out on top, beating the Red team, led by Jordan and Evan, by only one point. The Blue team, led by Alexis and Micah, was not far behind, placing third. The relay races were a great way to end a great session. We hope to see you all again next summer and wish you all a Happy 4th of July!
